The Clinton Global Initiative University was launched by U.S. President Bill Clinton in 2007 to amplify the impact next generation leaders on college campuses bring to the world. CGI U’s signature Commitments to Action program gives leaders a platform to announce bold new initiatives that make the world a better place.

In 2009, Sproxil CEO Dr. Ashifi Gogo made a commitment to action – to tackle the menace of counterfeit drugs. His commitment won an Outstanding Commitment Award and a generous grant, which were both instrumental in Sproxil’s founding. Dr. Gogo’s update on his commitment was featured at the 2010 Clinton Global initiative annual meeting in New York. Relive the moment here

Ten years later, over 2.4 billion products bear Sproxil’s codes worldwide. With our deep experience starting and scaling a social enterprise, we answered the call to give back insights to early stage entrepreneurs looking to have a meaningful impact on the world.

The CGI U Alumni Celebration took place at Cornell Tech on Roosevelt Island in New York City. The gathering convened a group of outstanding young leaders, business and nonprofit executives, philanthropists, and members of the media, for reflection on and celebration of social impact and innovation.

The CGI U Alumni Celebration took place at Cornell Tech on Roosevelt Island in New York City. The gathering convened a group of outstanding young leaders, business and nonprofit executives, philanthropists, and members of the media, for reflection on and celebration of social impact and innovation.

The CGI U gathering featured high-profile plenary sessions led by President Bill Clinton and Chelsea Clinton, in addition to alumni-led small group discussions and networking opportunities.

Speaking on the topic of sustaining the drive to make a difference, Dr. Gogo encouraged each early-stage entrepreneur to “… pace yourself as you pursue these large commitments that you have made, to understand that you are dedicating a significant portion of your life to the work that lies ahead. Measure your success over a long span of time.”

The panel was moderated by Chelsea Clinton, the Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation.
